For garden enthusiasts, Mission Garden is a hidden gem in a bustling city, where you can gain a fuller sense of Tucson’s agricultural heritage — one of the key reasons the city won its Unesco designation.
Open on Saturdays, the nonprofit four-acre urban garden is a re-creation of the Spanish Colonial walled garden that was part of Tucson’s historic San Agustin Mission and features heirloom Sonoran Desert-adapted fruit orchards and vegetable gardens interpreting 4,000 years of agriculture in Tucson.
For your comfort, consider bringing sunscreen, a hat, a water bottle, and bug repellent.
